Construction Method

Every camper crafted by Urban X Campers features a distinct and specially developed construction method, often imitated but never matched.

Our frames are made from 100% locally sourced aluminum, expertly TIG welded and lock-bolted for superior strength and off‑road flexibility.

We utilise a Z-channel on the chassis, allowing the aluminium frame to be secured to the side rather than resting on top of the floor, ensuring a sturdier and more integrated build.

Aluminium Frame – Rot-Free Design

Having an Aluminium frame means that our caravans are built for longevity, endurance and off-road ability. One of the biggest issues facing traditionally built wooden frame caravans is damage caused by water ingress. This rots the frame and renders the caravan useless.

Tig Welded Aluminium Frame

A TIG-welded aluminium frame eliminates the need for rivets in construction. By fully TIG welding the frame, there’s no reliance on rivets or staples, reducing wear and tear, including stress cracking in the surrounding aluminium.

TIG welding is a highly skilled and time-intensive process. Welding aluminium is particularly challenging compared to other common metals, requiring expertise that few possess.

Crafting a TIG-welded aluminium frame for off-road campers is truly an art form. The precision and engineering involved make it a challenge that many in
the industry have struggled to master.

Interior Excellence

All furniture is precision-cut using CNC. We employ an effective tongue-and-groove technique for all joins, followed by our three-step process:
GLUE IT, SCREW IT, SEAL IT.

By following this process, we ensure the durability of our interiors and that they are just as capable as our exteriors in handling off-road conditions.

Dust Suppression System

A competent and potent Dust Reduction System that is unique to the industry and had been developed with direct feedback from Outback Loving Owners and Testing.

In hardcore off-road camping, dust ingress is an extremely important factor that can affect the cleanliness of your cabin and the longevity of your interior material and appliances.

Off-road Outback adventures do not have to mean dust-covered kitchen benchtops and bedsheets. Protect your interior and keep the dust outdoors where it belongs. With the Dust Suppression System (DSS) standard across many of our models, your interior will remain dust free during those long desert tracks.

Z-Channel Wall Support

By using a Z Channel when joining the chassis with the frame, the frame fastens onto the chassis using the overhangs.

This is a more secure way to merge the frame and chassis and ensure durability and flexibility at the same time.

We utilise a Z-channel on the chassis, allowing the aluminium frame to be secured to the side rather than resting on top of the floor, ensuring a sturdier and more integrated build.

Insulation

At Urban X Campers, we use an infill system that unlike other methods provides much better insulation properties.

Using this method, we fill in as many of the gaps as we can. This means that we use more insulating material with less gaps.

More insulation means better insulation for keeping out both the COLD and the HOT.
